For
God's sake (used
for emphasis) (Sometimes,
though not always, pluralized to 'for
God's sakes' in American usage)
(also for goodness sake). An
exclamation showing surprise, impatience, or some other emotion:
For
God's sake, don't scare
me like that!
Put
some pants on, for God's sake!
For
God's sake, Eleanor, what happened to your hair?
It's
time we started worrying about educating our children, for
God's sake.
At
three-thirty in the morning, for God's sake,
my dog decided to have her puppies.
Note:
Some people might consider “For God's sake” as well as
other expressions such as “Oh my God”, “Jesus!”,
etc to be rude, irreverent or a blasphemy because "they
break one of the Ten Commandments, the one that warns against using
God's name in vain".
