KICKING ONE'S HEELS


to kick one's heels to wait or pass the time aimlessly or futilely; to be kept waiting around with nothing to do, so that you get bored or impatient.; to pass time doing unimportant things:
They were forced to kick their heels for nearly a quarter of an hour.
The authorities wouldn't grant us permission to fly all the way down to San Francisco, so I had to kick my heels at Tunis Airport.
